Position statement
At Heritage Capital, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct and corporate responsibility. We recognize the importance of respecting and promoting international labour standards and human rights in all our operations and investments. Our commitment is guided by the principles set forth in the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the International Labour Organization (ILO) Core Conventions, and the South African constitution.
Our Commitments:
Respect for Human Rights:
We are dedicated to respecting all internationally recognized human rights as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the ILO Core Conventions. This includes the rights to freedom, equality, and dignity for all individuals.
Fair Labour Practices:
We ensure fair labour practices across our operations and investments. This includes providing safe and healthy working conditions, fair wages, and the right to collective bargaining. We strictly prohibit forced labour, child labour, slave labour, and any form of discrimination or harassment.
Due Diligence:
We conduct thorough human rights due diligence to identify, prevent, and mitigate any adverse human rights impacts associated with our business activities. This involves regular assessments and audits of our operations and supply chains.
Stakeholder Engagement:
We engage with our stakeholders, including employees, investors, communities, and other relevant parties, to understand their concerns and expectations regarding human rights and labour standards. We are committed to transparent communication and collaboration.
Remediation:
In cases where we identify that we have caused or contributed to adverse human rights impacts, we are committed to providing or cooperating in remediation through legitimate processes.
Continuous Improvement:
We strive for continuous improvement in our human rights and labour practices. We regularly review and update our policies and practices to align with evolving national and international standards and best practices.
At Heritage Capital, we believe that respecting and promoting human rights and fair labour practices is not only a moral obligation but also essential for sustainable business success. We are committed to integrating these principles into our corporate culture and operations, ensuring that we contribute positively to the communities and environments in which we operate.
